Chief Frederick Vinson #85 (1890-1953) Vinson autographed a card when he was serving in the executive department of the treasury on August 17, 1953. There are photographs where the Chief Justice is shown being sworn in and there is also a pair of photographs where he is shown with Harry S. Truman who nominated Vinson as Chief Justice.
Vinson received confirmation on June 24, 1946. It must be noted Truman was the last President as a Democrat to nominate a Chief Justice to the Supreme Court. Also Chief, Vinson can be recognized as one of but a few people to serve in all three branches of American government. (Legislative/Executive/Judicial)
