Tom C. Clark #86 (1899-1977)
Tom C. Clark #86 (1899-1977) autographs a chambers card from the United States Supreme Court dating it December 4, 1953 and personalizes it to an unidentified reverend.
The attached pictures include a photograph of Clark being sworn on by Chief Vinson. The presence of the nominating President Harry Truman is noted in the picture. Clark was from Texas and had never sat on a courtroom bench before his nomination and without that experience his nomination was difficult. Perhaps because he had been appointed as Attorney General cleared the way for a successful nomination.
Clark is shown boarding at least two more planes on this board. (nearly every photograph found he is engaged in some moving capacity mostly with his wife in attendance.
