James C. McReynolds #66
James C. McReynolds #66 autographs a chambers card from the Supreme Court and dates it 1940, over 80 years ago. THIS cantankerous Justice also displays 3 other photographs two of which are in his chambers. The third photograph shows him assisting a 90-year-old Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. from the Justice Exit at the Supreme Court building. There is also a small photograph of Justice Holmes who had kind words to say of McReynolds upon his death. (it should be noted McReynolds wept at Fanny Holmes funeral.)
McReynolds never married. There is included a photograph of the entire court of Chief Justice Hughes. McReynolds is found in the front row our left sitting next to the then longest serving Justice on the court Justice Mckenna from California. For those following the court packing attempt by Roosevelt. McKenna was one of the four horsemen who drove to work together each day and left at the same time. Similar activities were observed by the three Musketeers as well.
